Action: a Relationship Capital Infrastructure verb used in a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Agent: see Relationship Capital Agent.

 

Asset: a product owned by a person or business unit; a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Authorized representative: a person who has documented authority to engage an Entity in a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Best practice: method that a consensus of users believes is the optimum manner of accomplishing a task; Relationship Capital Process.

 

Business process: a collection of related structural activities that produce something of value to an organization, its stakeholders or its customers. For example, the process by which an organization realizes its services to its customers. See Relationship Capital Process.

 

Business Unit: discrete entity designed to carry out a specific business purpose. In a small company, the entire enterprise can consist of a single business unit. At the other extreme, a large organization may contain hundreds of interrelated business units, such as a departments, groups or teams; a Relationship Capital Entity. In addition to strict business, a Business Unit Entity may be used for a sports team, classroom, stamp club or any group pf people capable of earning Relationship Capital separate from the people involved. 

 

CBOK: Common Body of Knowledge. RNIA commonly-accepted practices and recommended procedures designed to maximize the value of the Relationship Economy.

 

CIE: see common-interest enterprise.

 

Collaboration: an agreement between people, products and business units to work together toward a common goal.

 

Command: a Relationship Capital Infrastructure directive to perform a specific task in a Relationship Capital Process.

 

Commitment: see Relationship Capital Commitment.

 

Common-interest enterprise: an entity organized by and for the members with an interest or a benefit for themselves, or a cause to promote.

 

Connection: see Relationship Capital Reflection.

 

Constant: item of data used in Relationship Capital Interactions that seldom or never changes, e.g. degrees in a circle, name of a street; stored in Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.

 

Contact: a party to a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Credit: an addition of a Relationship Capital Point to a Relationship Capital Account.

 

Data Unit: a Relationship Capital Infrastructure description of a Relationship Capital Entity; allocated region of computer storage dedicated to an Entity stored in Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.

 

Debit: a deduction of a Relationship Capital Point from a Relationship Capital Account.

 

Ecosystem: see Relationship Capital Ecosystem.

 

Entity: see Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Ethics: see Relationship Capital Ethics.

 

Financial accounting: the measurement, statement or provision of assurance about financial information primarily used by managers, investors, tax authorities and other decision makers to make resource allocation decisions within business units; transactions recorded by Relationship Capital Infrastructure General Ledger within a business unit; a Relationship Capital reflector.

 

Financial position: see Relationship Capital Reflection.

 

Financial reflection: see Relationship Capital Reflection.

 

Goal: see Relationship Capital Goal.

 

Help: engagement of a party in a Relationship Capital Interaction with the intention of assisting the other party.

 

IDL: see Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.

 

Independently observable: process in which an observer is independent of the Relationship Capital Entities engaged in a Relationship Capital Interaction. The purpose is to assure integrity and an objective approach to the measurement process. The observer can be a human or a computer software application.

 

Information silo: a system incapable of reciprocal operation with other, related systems; antithesis of seamless connectivity.

 

Infrastructure: see Relationship Capital Infrastructure.

 

Infrastructure Data Library: see Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.

 

Interaction: a kind of action that occurs as two or more objects have an effect upon one another. Also see transaction.

 

Networking: see Relationship Networking.

 

Other: an Entity engaged in an Interaction to which a Commitment is made, or to which a Perception Poll is sent.

 

Outcome: see Relationship Capital Commitment Outcome.

 

Person: a human being, living or deceased; a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Poll: see Relationship Capital Perception Poll.

 

Position: a job within a business unit; a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Process: see Relationship Capital Process.

 

Procedure: a sequence of Relationship Capital Infrastructure steps used to automate an Interaction or Process. Also see Template.

 

Product: a good¾tangible or intangible¾or service held for sale by a business unit; a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Promise: see Relationship Capital Commitment.

 

RCE: see Relationship Capital Ecosystem.

 

RCI: see Relationship Capital Infrastructure.

 

RCI Data Library: see Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.

 

RCI Test: an assessment of a Relationship Capital Interaction's ability to carry out its terms utilizing essential human labor only. If non-essential human labor exists at any point, the Interaction fails the test.

 

RCP: see Relationship Capital Point.

 

Recommended procedure: defined and documented sequence of activities, tasks, steps, decisions, calculations and processes, that when undertaken in the sequence laid down fulfills the objective of a best practice.

 

Referral: recommendation of a Relationship Capital Entity by another Entity.

 

Reflector: a Relationship Capital Entity with which a Relationship Capital Account holder has a qualified relationship or, in the case of a person or business unit, the holder's financial position, that results in a credit of an RCP to the Account. See Relationship Capital Refection.

 

Relationship: a specific connection between a person, business unit, position, product or asset in which both parties engage in a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Capital: a measurement assigned to individual and organizational entities based on the relationship interactions between them, and the interactions they have internally.

 

Relationship Capital Account: an accounting of the balance of Relationship Capital Points (RCPs) for a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Relationship Capital Accounting: the measurement, statement or provision of assurance about Relationship Capital information primarily used by managers, advisors and investors to make resource allocation decisions within business units. See debit and credit.

 

Relationship Capital Agent: a software program that acts in the background to perform a Relationship Capital task and to collaborate with others of its kind.

 

Relationship Capital Business Plan: a formal statement of a set of business goals enabled by Relationship Capital, the reasons why the goals are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching the goals. The Plan may also contain background information about the business unit attempting to reach the goals

 

Relationship Capital Commitment: an independently observable agreement between Relationship Capital Entities in which one Entity promises to take a specific action and the other promises to confirm that the action was taken; an agreement made an Entity internally in which the action may be confirmed by an independent human or computer software application; a type of Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Capital Commitment Outcome: a result defined by the agreement of a Relationship Capital Commitment.

 

Relationship Capital Ecosystem: a combination of products and services that gives people and business units everything they need to compel them to engage in Relationship Capital Interactions; RCE.

 

Relationship Capital Entity: a person, business unit, position, product or asset capable of engaging in a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Capital Ethics: generally-accepted behavior that supports a positive Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Capital Goal: motivation to engage in Relationship Capital Interactions to support a desired result.

 

Relationship Capital Infrastructure: a framework of hardware and software that automates Relationship Capital Interactions utilizing essential human labor only; RCI.

 

Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library: housing of data used to describe Relationship Capital Entities, the actions they take, the vocabulary they use, and the environment in which they operate, expressed in a format that is readable by computer applications that conform to Relationship Capital Infrastructure; IDL.

 

Relationship Capital Interaction: a specific connection between Relationship Capital Entities, or internally within an Entity, that is capable of creating Relationship Capital. Interaction types include Relationship Capital Commitments, Relationship Capital Perception Polls and Relationship Capital Reflection.

 

Relationship Capital Point: the unit, a value of 1 or -1, used in the calculations of a Relationship Capital Account; currency of the Relationship Economy; RCP.

 

Relationship Capital Perception Poll: an invitation made by a Relationship Capital Entity to one or more people for the purpose of eliciting the recipient's perception of the Entity; a type of Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Capital Process: a collection of two or more interrelated Relationship Capital Interactions.

 

Relationship Capital Reflection: a credit of a Relationship Capital Point to a Relationship Capital Account as a result of the Account holder's connections, or a statement of financial position in a Relationship Capital Account; a type of Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Relationship Economy: economic system in which Relationship Capital influences the production, distribution, exchange, and consumption of goods and services.

 

Relationship Network: complex structure of interconnected relationships viewed from the perspective of a Relationship Capital Entity.

 

Relationship Networking: interacting with others for the purpose of earning Relationship Capital.

 

Reciprocity: engaging in a Relationship Capital Interaction with the intent to give in exchange for receiving something in return.

 

RNIA: Relationship Networking Industry Association. Not-for-profit trade association of leaders dedicated to maximizing opportunity and value in the rapidly-evolving world of relationship networking, which combines social and business, both on- and off-line. Facilitates a seamlessly-connected Relationship Economy by offering neutral ground on which members can collaborate to provide standards and enable certification.

 

RNIA Certification: quality assurance process under which skills, curricula and educational materials, or hardware and software, are examined to determine conformance to RNIA standards.

 

Seamless connectivity: a result of Relationship Capital Infrastructure, which automates Relationship Capital Interactions utilizing essential human labor only, regardless of ownership, location, make, version or design of the technologies in use, or of the manual processes being followed; antithesis of information silo.

 

Silo: see Information silo.

 

Template: a pre-defined Relationship Capital Interaction or Process; a pre-defined procedure used to automate an Interaction or Process.

 

Transaction: an agreement, communication, or movement carried out between separate entities or objects, often involving the exchange of items of value, such as information, goods, services and money. Also see interaction.

 

Trust: the expectation that an Entity will observe Relationship Capital Ethics in all aspects of a Relationship Capital Interaction.

 

Variable: placeholder used in Relationship Capital Interactions to represent information that can change each time the Interaction is invoked, e.g. first name, date of birth: stored in Relationship Capital Infrastructure Data Library.
