STATE OF THE INDUSTRY

A relationship networking industry has existed for some time, but has not been visible because there hasn't been a way to measure networking itself.

The invisible industry took a positive step forward in 2006 when RNIA was formed. RNIA emerged as the only not-for-profit trade association of leaders dedicated to the measurement of networking. Today, we call it Relationship Capital ("RC"), and we offer neutral ground on which members can collaborate to provide RC standards and enable certification.

OUR INDUSTRY'S PROBLEMS

To get a sense of the problems besetting the Relationship Networking Industry, here are a few of its major problems:

• Measurement. "My company can't harness the networking explosion."

We all know that successful relationships separate great businesses from so-so companies. But without measurement, companies can't improve in this area, let alone harness the explosion transforming their businesses. Plus, the lack of a scorecard makes it hard for individual networkers to let the world know how great they truly are.

• Time Savings. "Networking is time-consuming; too many systems involved."

Companies can't leverage the networking revolution because networking is a hassle. Today's networking simply takes too long and happens on too many platforms. People, products and business units can't immediately share any data, any time, on any mobile device or computer. Bottom line: networking is way under its potential.

• B2B. "It's hard to do business with my networking contacts."

Commerce is a frequent result of face-to-face encounters, but the ability to buy and sell products is stunningly absent in online networking. Companies can't capitalize on the relationship-building "sales channel" because their products and brands are simply not part of the networking equation. It's obvious that networking today is just for people, not about products and businesses.

• Excellence. "No one knows what success is in a networking sense."

The word "networking" implies commonality, yet there is no common thought or action in today's networking. This makes it impossible to know when a desired outcome has been achieved. Ethics is painfully absent or subject to interpretation, and the vast number of networking sites, books and consultants adds complexity to an essentially straightforward process. The result: networking is hard to learn, hard to apply, and even harder to assess in terms of excellence.

HOW RELATIONSHIP CAPITAL HELPS OUR INDUSTRY

• Measurement. "RC lets companies harness the networking explosion."

RNIA brings Relationship Capital into the mainstream so that companies can measure the effect of the networking revolution that is transforming their businesses, and so that kids and adults can have fun keeping score of their networking successes.

• Time Savings. "RC makes networking fast, all-inclusive and mobile."

RC streamlines relationship-building by introducing a common language and enabling people, products and business units to immediately share any data, any time, on any mobile device or computer.

• B2B. "RC makes commerce an integral part of networking."

RC puts products and business units into the networking mix, enabling universal B2B coupled with the ability to build Relationship Capital, and letting individuals easily conduct online commerce with their contacts.

• Excellence. "RC rewards the best behavior of people and companies."

RC's simple and powerful point system makes it possible for people, products and businesses to be the best they can possible be. A common language and approach help individuals and companies reach their full networking potential.

OUR PEOPLE ARE THE KEY.
